Egg™ is a triumph of furniture design. 60 years after its debut, this sculptural opus remains a symbol of good design. In 1960, Copenhagen's first skyscraper, the SAS Royal Hotel, opened its doors. The hotel's holistic design - from the building's facade to furniture, cutlery and textiles - was carried out by the famous architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. The first 50 seafoam-colored Egg™ armchairs were placed in the hotel lobby. The curved contours of the cozy cocoons elegantly contrasted with the strict horizontal and vertical lines of the building. Only a few copies of the first series have survived to this day - when the hotel's owners changed (now the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel), the interior was changed, and the fate of the furniture is unknown. The good news is that room no. 606 has retained its historical interior and is even better - you can still stay in it💓
The chair showcased here was produced in 1984 and preserved in impeccable condition. The chair is marked with its unique identification number. Its perfect condition ensures that it remains a timeless statement piece, cherished by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
